Our u12 hurlers got their division 2 league campaign started against Carrigaline in Camden this evening. Stepping up a few grades, the lads were slow to start and carrigaline took advantage with a goal and 2 pointed frees, Roan Sisk responded with a pointed free before Carrigaline continued their strong start with 2-2 from play. The boys finally clicked into gear with 5 mins to play in the first half & Ben Bywater finished to the before a well taken Charlie Bermingham point from play and a brilliant long range goal from Daithí O'Leary who came storming out from centre back to leave it 3-4 to 2-2 at half time.
We were more competitive from the start of the second half with Mossie Bermingham getting through a lot of work around the middle. A goal from young Sean Kelly and pointed free from Oliver Dransfield answered 2 Carrigaline points. There was now just 3 points between the sides. 3-6 to 3-3. The lads threw everything at Carrigaline and probably didn't get the luck or decisions they deserved around the square. 2 frees and a late breakaway goal for Carrigaline left a scoreline that the lads efforts didn't deserve. 4-8 to 3-3. Special mention to young Zack McGrath in goal, playing up a couple of age groups - he was excellent between the sticks and could do nothing about any of the goals.
Well done to all the lads panel : Zack McGrath, Flynn McGrath, Daniel Maverly, Harry Lenihan, Tadhg Connolly, Harry McGrath, Daithí O'Leary, Luke Cummins, Roan Sisk, Oliver Dransfield, Mossie Bermingham, Charlie Bermingham, Ben Bywater, Brendan Hughes, Fionn Barry, Liam Rutledge, Sean Kelly, Charlie Galvin
