Sunday December 1st marked the last day of the annual Crosshaven GAA Indoor hurling league for 2024.
Throughout November mixed aged team from age 6 to 10 played a weekly league in Crosshaven Boys School hall.
Finals day meant knockout hurling. Based upon their league standings the teams played quarter-finals, semi-finals and Final to determine which team took home the Trophy for 2024.
There were hugely entertaining games played throughout the day with all the boys getting stuck in. The younger lads showed no fear tackling the big hitters a few years their senior.
Team effort and hard work were key to make it through the rounds, with a good amount of luck thrown in. Some matches went to the wire with decisive goals scores in the dying seconds and some going to extra time.
The two strongest teams made it into Final pairing, with Galway who topped the league standings facing off against a Clare team who were on a roll.
The final match did not disappoint with high scoring, drama, penalties scored and penalties missed. the cheering crowd were provided with a spectacle to end the morning of entertaining hurling. Clare came out on top at the final whistle.
Well done to all the lads who took part. They put in some fine hurling, showed great team work and even though a loss may be difficult sometimes, it will stand to them well when they come back again in 2025 with more skills and determined.
Big thanks to Crosshaven Boys School for the use of the hall and all the coaches and organisers.
This marks the end of the season for Juvenile GAA, it was a great way to finish the season on a high. Looking forward to the new season on 2025.
