Our u16 hurlers were very unlucky to lose out in this county semi final encounter after extra time in a game that was end to end stuff with both teams giving it their all , there’s no doubt the Crosshaven lads died with thier boots on and having led at half time by a single point 1-10 to 3-3 , they were very optimistic going into the second half , we didn’t get off to the best of starts when we got hit for an early goal but the lads came back into it and it was nip and tuc right through the second half Crosshaven a slender 1pt lead with time up when western Gaels got a free just inside the 65 which they converted to send the game to extra time.
Crosshaven probably had the better chances in the second half but we’re just unlucky not to convert them , so lads had to re group again and seemed to be in the right frame of mind going into the extra time period but never got going at all , western Gaels hit us for 1-3 without reply with our only score coming from a free and the lads having given it all didn’t deserve to lose by the margin they did in the end special mention to Fionan Mcsweeney in the back line and Callum mulcahy in the forward line who had great a game as did all the panel of players , the lads have had a great season winning there own championship and are in a league final v killdorrery to come just very unlucky not to be in a county final only a puc of a ball away in normal time , they say goals win games
