Rebel Og Div 1 football championship Crosshaven 3-15 Ballinora 5-10
On a perfect night for football Crosshaven and Ballinora produced a great game of football , in the early stages of the game Crosshaven were playing the better football and went into a 1-7 to 0-3 lead with a well taken goal from Callum Mulcahy.
Ballinora came back into it with a goal and two points of their own. Our lads responded with a well worked move finishing with a neat strike low into the corner from Cormac Ryan followed by two more points to give Crosshaven a 2-9 to 1-5 half time lead.
Being in a good position we were well aware Ballinora were going to come back at us and a few early ball handling mistakes from our lads resulted in us giving away the ball easily and when got overturned we got punished by the visitors but having said that we were still playing great football but unfortunately we went 5 points down having conceded a few goals but showed great character to level the scores with time up with a goal from Diarmuid Kelly and a draw beckoning with time well up but some how deep into added time we conceded a late point which was a tough one to take having played impressive football at times and certainly deserved a draw for there efforts but it wasn’t to be so lads need to pick themselves up for our next group game away to Passage on the 12th August and go again.
Sometimes you just don’t get what you deserve that’s sport for you
Hard luck lads - we will rise again for sure!
