Crosshaven Juvenile Poc Fada
The Crosshaven Juvenile Poc Fada took place last Sunday. The threatening torrential rain that was promised did not deter the 70 or so girls and boys from Crosshaven GAA, Camogie and LGFA club taking part in this great annual event.
Starting from Crosshaven Rugby Club the teams, made up of 3/4 boys and girls or mixed ages, pucked their way towards Crosshaven, down the hill by Cruchán Wood, around Gash's corner, down by Templebreedy School and up the hill to the finish line at Scoil Bhríde. With each team aiming to finish the course with the fewest number of pucks possible the players were focused to ensure each strike was struck well.

From 11am to 12.30 the stream of people making their way down the road was some sight, made up of competitors, score takers, traffic marshals, ball spotters, parents, and supporters, all heading to the finish line. A positive and energetic atmosphere was evident throughout, with encouragement and advice being given to the younger players by their more experienced team mates. With parents, volunteers and spectators enjoying the spectacle, cheering the players on and enjoying each others company.

After crossing the finish line the teams made their way to Crosshaven Boys School, where after the judges finished their tally, it was announced that there was a tie for first and second place, and also for third and fourth. Those teams were now challenged with a sudden death puc off, where the longest puc took the win. This was a hugely exciting finish to the fun competition.

Inside the hall all boys and girls received a goodie bag kindly provided by Barry's Centra
The adults were treated to chocolates with their cups of tea, courtesy of Levis Luxuries

The prize giving then took place with Mick Desmond, trophy and prize sponsor, presenting the awards to the winning teams.
First place: Layla Donovan, Pearse Murphy and Roan Sisk

Third place: Nathan Drennan, Isaac Walter-Linehan, Micheál Davitt & Eoin Davitt
