Under 16 Football League :
Crosshaven 1-9 Kinsale 2-6
Kinsale started strong and registered some great scores with the wind. Crosshaven pegged back a couple of points through Owen Merchant and Michael Nugent. Kinsale were then forced to reduce to 14 players due to an injury and battled hard in the remainder of the first half to finish the first half at 1-3 to 0-3 in favour of Kinsale. Crosshaven took advantage of the wind in the second half and pulled off some great scores in particular a goal from centre back Patrick Cotter. Kinsale continued to have purple patches but were kept at bay with some great defending from wing backs Jake Russell and Niall Deane. With Liam Cotter breaking up a lot of play and midfield and with a couple of points from Padraig Murphy, Crosshaven were ahead by two points. The introduction of Rob Keal for the last 15 minutes made a difference as well, making some powerful runs through the centre. Conor Finn was excellent in goal, pulled off some brilliant saves and had superb kick outs. Kinsale never gave up and in fairness to their grit and fine football – they managed to draw the game in the end. Well done to both sides – a fair result.
